Research interests for Patients:
The primary focus of my research is to study effects of environmental exposures on asthma severity and exacerbations in urban children. However, in addition to clinical management of patients with known primary immunodeficiency diseases, I collaborate with physician and laboratory scientists in the fields of gastroenterology, pulmonology, rheumatology, hematology, and oncology to identify individuals suffering from autoimmune phenomena in which a primary immunodeficiency disease (or immune dysregulation disorder) is the root cause. I am also co-director of the severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) newborn screening program in Colorado.
