Clinical Interest for Patients
My focus is clinical based. I enjoy working with the patients and their families on a day to day basis. I work mostly inpatient, so many times I see the kids when they are at their sickest. I enjoy guiding their care when they are sick, but love to see them doing well and thriving outside of the hospital.
One of the reasons I chose Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow transplant is because I love that the care is ongoing. I enjoy getting to know the patient’s and their families throughout their treatment course. In undergrad, I majored in Child and Family Development; I have always been fascinated with pediatrics, and love how resilient kids can be. I think the biggest thing to put parents at ease is to make sure they feel heard; they are going through a very stressful time with very little control of the situation, and need to feel that their opinions matter. With the patients, I think their voice and opinion needs to be heard as well. I also try to relate to them on a more personal level that takes away from the scary medical world.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, skiing, hiking and camping. I love trying new things and going on new adventures.
