Clinical Interests
I am interested in helping patients lose weight, particularly those with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, and arthritis. I can prescribe individualized diet therapy and I will consider weight loss medications for selected patients. I also can care for patients that have had bariatric surgery.

Care Philosophy
I am happy to take care of any patient that wants to manage their weight and their health and is willing to make an investment of time and effort. I am flexible and I will work with patients' dietary preferences and needs.

I am a very active participant in the scientific and clinical enterprises. I am active in the leadership of the Society of General Internal Medicine, The Obesity Society, and the American College of Physicians. I serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior. I have served on a study section for the National Insitutes of Health.
