Clinical Interests
Diagnostic accuracy. Preventive pediatrics. Telephone triage and advice - tools for. Parent and patient education - tools for. More efficient, cost-effective care.

Care Philosophy
My primary goal is to determine the correct diagnosis and cause (or causes). An individualized treatment plan follows and makes sense to the family. Successful outcomes require follow-up and an openness to change. All of this requires careful listening, empathy, respect and true interest in the patient's world.

Personal Interests
I've created a symptom checker app for self-triage and self-care of sick children. The goal is to help parents prevent unnecessary ER visits. Over 30 Children's Hospitals have adapted it for their communities. Over 400 pediatricians have added it to their practice websites.

Public Speaking
Yes
I give parent conferences on toilet training problems and sleep problems of childhood. I also speak to high school students about a career in pediatric medical writing.
